A cover keeps what makes the song yours, the melody and structure, and changes the genre, instruments, and voice. It is a fast way to test a new direction or create alternate versions for release.
Pick a source you have rights to
Start from a song in your Grok Music Library, or upload a recording you own on a paid plan or credit pack. Covers of other people's songs need the rights holder's permission before you publish.
Describe the new version
In Simple mode, one sentence is enough: "stripped acoustic version, fingerpicked guitar, soft cajon, intimate female vocal, 80 BPM". Name one genre and a few instruments; long genre lists blur the result.
Use Advanced mode to change the words
Advanced mode adds title, style, and lyrics fields. Paste the lyrics you want sung, including edits, and keep line lengths similar to the original so the phrasing stays close.
